If you're setting up a CCTV or DVR system, don’t even think about using a regular desktop hard drive. The Seagate SkyHawk 1TB (ST1000VX013) is engineered specifically for surveillance — 24/7 reliability, consistent performance, and peace of mind when storing critical footage.
Built to handle up to 64 HD camera streams, this drive is no slouch. It’s optimized with ImagePerfect firmware, so your footage stays smooth, uninterrupted, and drop-free — even under high loads.
Unlike regular HDDs, the SkyHawk is designed to operate non-stop. That’s 24/7, 365 days a year — just like your security system. It can write continuously without choking up, giving you ultra-reliable footage archiving and playback.
The 1TB capacity gives you plenty of room for storing days (or even weeks) of HD video, depending on your setup. Whether you're running a small home system or a multi-cam commercial setup, this drive offers the stability and consistency surveillance demands.
Spinning at 5400 RPM, the SkyHawk balances energy efficiency and performance. With SATA 6Gb/s interface and up to 190MB/s transfer rate, you’ll get quick data access without overheating your DVR or NVR system.
And with lower power consumption (typical of surveillance-optimized drives), your entire system stays cool, quiet, and efficient.
With Seagate’s SkyHawk design, you’re not just getting a regular hard disk — you're getting:
Enhanced workload rating (180TB/year)
Vibration resistance for DVR/NVR enclosures
Built-in RV sensors for multi-drive systems
Tuned for 90% write operations (because watching footage is rare — storing it is constant)
This is the level of engineering your security system deserves.
Form Factor: 3.5-inch (perfect for desktop DVR/NVR systems)
Dimensions: Standard 147 x 101 x 26 mm
Weight: Approx. 400–500g
Color: Signature SkyHawk silver
Compatibility: Works with all modern Windows OS (7/8.1/10/11) and NVR/DVR systems with SATA interface
